Many disregard all the casualties and hardships and only think about the big picture: victory. Michael C. C. Adams book, The Best War Ever: America and World War II, attempts to dissipate all of the misconceptions of the Second World War. Through the realism of motion pictures, such as 1998’s ‘Saving Private Ryan’ and 2001’s ‘Pearl Harbor’, Americans were falsely led to believe in a glorified war. The other major factor in allowing the war to be dubbed as â€Å"the best war ever† was the economic prosperity. â€Å"The U.S. gross national product increased 60 percent during the war,† (114) a statistic which differed greatly from those of the depression years of the 1930’s. Differences in the Myths of the Toad, the Snake, and the Medicine Free Essays

The Limba people of Africa live in different villages, and each village puts its own spin on the myths that are passed down from generation to generation. One of these myths focuses on the god Kanu making medicine to immortalize the Limba, and the destruction of that medicine by the toad. We will write a custom essay sample on Differences in the Myths of the Toad, the Snake, and the Medicine or any similar topic only for you Order Now There are three versions of the myth of the destruction of the medicine, but they vary in several ways. The first myth, â€Å"The Toad Did Not Love Us,† suggests that the toad dropped the medicine Kanu gave him on purpose. Although most Biblical tales paint the snake as a dangerous creature, in this myth the snake loved the people. This myth implies that Kanu finds it strange that the people kill the snake, but not the toad, considering that the snake loved them. This myth is also different because it mentions the â€Å"white people,† so the reader can be fairly sure that this myth was either thought up after European colonization, or it was modified to add them. The second myth, â€Å"The Toad and the Snake,† tells that Kanu wanted to save both animals and people. Again, the toad insisted on carrying the human portion, and again he spilled it, but not out of ill will. The snake carried his portion, and arrived with it safely. While this myth is still about why the people die, it also points out that snakes live forever because of their medicine. Perhaps this idea came from seeing molted snake skins. The skin might come off, but the snake lived forever. The last myth, â€Å"The Toad and Death,† is a short version of the same myth, but it only concentrates on how the snake and toad feel about each other. They are enemies because they perpetually argue about who should have carried the medicine. This is not because one loved the people more than the other. It is simply a rivalry that goes on for eternity. This myth serves more as an explanation of why snakes and toads do not get along rather than why people die. These three short myths show how stories change as they are passed around and told by different people with different influences. It is intriguing to see how one tribe could have such varied views on the same tale. How to cite Differences in the Myths of the Toad, the Snake, and the Medicine, Papers

The strength of Ad Astra Institute compared to these universities is that ad Astra has positive reputation in the external community, proactive Partnerships with other universities especially in other nations, conducting accredited programs and offering of learning skills development to enhance learning and effective student and campus services. However, the weakness compared to these competitors is poor maintenance of digital presence and providing match between research expectation support. Macro environmental threats and opportunities and current digital presence Macro environmental threats Some of the threats that Ad Astra Institute can face is the state budget crisis for incorporating more advancement in the university services. Moreover, not all parents consider employment in hospitality industry as a good profession; thus, negative public perception is a threat for the university. Development of another hospitality industry with more diverse functionalities and offering of facilities is a great threat for Ad Astra Institute. Macro environmental opportunities The concerned university have opportunity is developing more partnerships in support of university initiatives, Diversity of region in terms of students and industry, formulating match between the curricular and societal interests, creating external community and university relationship through interest in expansion of cultural activities so that internal students can communicate with local students and customers, expansion in terms of academic program expansion and growth in terms of university services. Moreover, Ad Astra Institute have the opportunity of Stockton by developing University Park, bring enhancement in university connections and incorporating large student pool. Current digital presence Chaffey and Bosomworth (2012) stated that the occurrence of the business in online is known as digital presence. In modern era, social media networking sites is a part of digital presence. Ad Astra Institute has their digital presence through their online website, Facebook, YouTube account and LinkedIn (See Appendix, Figure 1, 2 and 3). It can be seen that the performance of their digital presence is not significant as total number of members in Facebook are not high, there are zero subscribers in their YouTube Channel and also there is no recent activity related videos uploaded in the channel. Lastly, in their LinkedIn profile, not much response is there. All these aspects illustrate that there digital presence need to follow an effective strategy so that more people get aware of their brand. Marketing strategy of current service offering and target markets The target market in this cases are the high school students in hospitality schools and those, who intends to pursue their higher study or desire to be a professional in hospitality sector. The current marketing strategy is to formulate partnership with other university of different nations so that their students after completing their high school can pursue their higher education is hospitality in Australia. Customer segments and value propositions and service positioning strategies The customer segmentation followed by Ad Astra Institute is educated families with high income so that they can afford the fees of the university and the activities that are provided for career development. The segmentation is also based on location (Chaffey and Ellis-Chadwick 2012). In this aspect, the concerned organization offers their services in Melbourne City and South Melbourne. Considering the psychographic strategy, people with high standard living are only targeted by this university. The value proposition of the Ad Astra Institute is Ad Astra Institute aims to provide students with expert knowledge and hands on experience to develop their careers in hospitality and the culinary arts. Lastly, it can be said that the positioning of the market is only in Melbourne and even students of other nations, have to come to Australia is they intends to study in this university. Integrated (traditional + digital) Marketing Strategy Identification of the primary marketing challenge Thus, it can be said that, the prime challenge is that people are not aware of the services and the educational course that Ad Astra Institute is providing. They do not have their branches in other nations and students have to accommodate in their campus if they intends to study in their university. Most importantly, their digital channels are not properly maintained especially their Facebook fan page and YouTube channel. Ad Astra Institute thus has to enhance their partnership in other nations and offer their services as a joint venture so that students can experience their services in their respective nation. Secondly, for overcoming the adversity of brand awareness, effective promotional activities should be incorporated. Thirdly, effective plan should also be formulated so that the digital presence of the concerned university can be enhanced. Recommendation for enhancing promotional activities Advertisement can be done through traditional methods like advertisement in newspaper, digital hoardings and magazines attract students and their family members. Moreover, the concerned organization can also adopt the strategy of advertising campaigns, demonstrations from successfully placed students and free sample campaigns, seminars on related topics along with direct mail campaigns. However, in order to meet the recent trends, the concerned university can adopt the strategy of digital promotional activity through online sites especially social media marketing through Facebook page, YouTube channel, Twitter account and others. Recommendation for enhancing digital presence The design of the website should be enhanced so that people will find every small detail in the website. Thus, it is recommended to develop a simple yet effective design, mobile-friendly digital presence, incorporation of quality images and information related to those images and most importantly presence of statistics. Moreover, for their social media page, one recommendation is to stay active every time in the social sites. Based on the posts in the sites, consumer survey should also be conducted so that the exact user demand can be observed and relevant changes can be made on the services offered to the students. Justification for changing the marketing strategy All the recommendations are justified as it will enhance the brand awareness among the community. In addition to that, these strategies will also enhance their promotional activities and university collaborations and more people will desire to get admission in Ad Astra Institute. These strategies will also redefine the target segmentation that is the concerned organization can also serve their services outside Melbourne, Australia. Scholarships and other campaign also attracts student with extraordinary merit irrespective of their family income and culture to learn and study at their university. This release of videos in a timely, recurring, and structured fashion pushes the number of subscribes significantly. Optimizing the title- The title of the content should contain keywords that users searches on Google for details. Ad Astra Institute can obtain this by using Google Adwords so that they can search for the keywords that users put while searching for university related information. The title of the content should be engaging and descriptive. Utilizing the Call to Action annotations: These are the popups that ask users to subscribe for the channel in order to get regular updates. All the engaging videos uploaded in the channel should contain these annotations so that on liking a video they can subscribe to the YouTube Channel. The challenge that the university face is low maintenance and poor representation of their digital marketing presence. They have their Facebook fanpage and YouTube channel but they do not have much followers and subscribers in both of their digital media presence. It is also found from the discussion that they should provide a social link of their social media in their business websites so that people do not have to search for their social presence separately. In addition to that, it is suggested in the discussion that the concerned organization should regularly posted their recent videos, posts and images in their sites and business websites so that people can get aware through their activities. Moreover, for their students they should also develop a mobile application through w hich they can access their university account and get the facilities like classroom tutorials, study materials and assessments details. Moreover, the social media pages of their university and business partners also be incorporated so that the authenticity if their data can be evaluated by the visitors. Moreover, suggestion from internet experts and programmers will also be beneficial for the university as they know the recent technological updates that can enhance their digital marketing presence. Managerial Decision Making for Administrative Policy-myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about theManagerial Decision Making for Administrative Policy. Answer: Investing in a new business Starting a business is not easy and it thus requires proper decision making before knowing how to invest in that particular business. Investing in a new business requires someone who is ready to take a risk. One has to carry out careful steps while investing in a new business. While investing in a new business, one may experience bias in the course of conducting the managerial duties. Someone has to make the right decision on which business he plans to invest in. Bias may be experienced in the sense that there may be somebody else may have planned to start the same business in that particular area. Sometimes the amount he invests in the business may not be enough to cater for the business needs. The kind of bias that he experienced is self-serving bias. It is self-serving because it involves the idea of a single person. The lack of availability of some things needed in the business may make the business suffer. In the course of undertaking the business, he may experience bias by find ing out that some things were not bought. Bias may be evaluated by hiring individuals in the business who will check the performance of the business and what is missing in it. They can may be look at the stock or look for what the business is lacking (Bazerman, 2017). The individuals can also evaluate why the business is not running smoothly. The owner can also check for what is missing in the business in order to identify the bias. The bias may be overcome by ensuring that you invest the right amount of money in the business. The owner should also make sure that he put a business that is not owned by many people to avoid bias and competition (Benson, 2014). He should also ensure that he makes the right decisions regarding the business at all times. The process may improve the decision outcomes in the scenario by ensuring that the owner makes decisions that eliminate bias. Eliminating the bias would improve the decision outcomes of the manager. Laying off workers The decision of laying off of the workers is arrived at in the business when something happens in the business. For instance, the work may have reduced or the business may be running at a loss (Saunders, 2005). The manager may experience bias while making the decision of laying off the workers. For instance, he may not be willing to lay off some workers whom he finds hardworking but may be forced by the circumstances. He may also lack the qualified personnel that he had for good. When he decides to lay them off, they may seek a permanent source of employment where the employee who layed them off may not see them again even when he needs them back (Kahneman, 2008). Some of the workers may be holding a big position in the company and it may be difficult for the manager to lay them off. The kind of bias that is experienced is diversity. The reason is that it involves the workers. The bias in this scenario may be evaluated by knowing the place that the worker held in the company. The action will help examine the bias that would be related to laying off the worker ( Jones, 2004). It can also be evaluated by knowing the number of employees in the company and those that would be layed off. Bias may also be evaluated by measuring the impact of the employees to the company the time they be layed off. The manager can develop strategies that would overcome bias in the scenario. For instance, he may choose to be left with the very hardworking employees in the company. He may also find means of explain to the one ones that he will lay off the reason for making that decision so that he can manage to lay them off without fear. He may also inform them the time that things would turn back to normal so that h may not lose them for good. The process may improve the decision outcomes in the scenario because the workers would be assured of coming back to work once it resumes. Maintaining the most productive workers may also be beneficial because they would ensure that the company remains productive. Resolving conflicts between employees The other decision that the manager can make is to resolve conflict among employees who may not be in good terms. The employees may be conflicting with each other regarding an issue. The bias that may appear is when the manager supports one side of the conflicting individual and then disregards the other. The manager may also solve the problem in the manner that it is not supposed to be solved since he is biased towards a given individual. In future he may also develop hatred towards a given individual and love the other since he might see as if one of them is to blame for the conflict. Bias in this scenario may be measured by seeing how the manager judges the cause of the conflict between the individuals. It can also be evaluated by seeing the love that the manager shows towards one employee and the hatred he shows towards the other (Wang, 2011). Bias can also be evaluated by observing how the manager treats the conflicting employees after resolving the conflict. The bias may also be evaluated by seeing whom the manager blames for the cause of the conflict. The kind of bias experienced is over-confident. The bias in the scenario can be overcome by having other people to resolve the conflict together with the manager. The action will help ensure that he does not show partiality of on employees against the other. The manager should also try to solve the conflict without favoring any individual since both of them were involved. It would also be necessary for the manager to treat the two conflicting individuals in the same way even after resolving the conflict (Bennett, 2004). It would also be necessary for the manager to get other people to advise him on how to deal with the individuals who were conflicting at the place of work. The process of overcoming the bias may improve the decision making outcome of the company. If the manager involves other people in resolving the conflict, the decisions would be better than when he was alone. If he fails to show partiality on one side of the employees, he may improve the decision making outcome when he involves them in the process. The manager may involve the employees at arriving at the right decision outcome if he is in good terms with them even after the conflict. References Bazerman, M. H. (2017).
